Book Launch: Growing Pains
Alex Trenoweth and My Spirit Books
Come to an astrology book launch! Growing Pains takes an astrological approach to the psychology of adolescence. Examining the Jupiter and Saturn cycles, she provides insights and wise counsel for teens and those close to them. Using examples from the lives of famous people, she shows the secrets of astrology as tools to become successful and wiser. London-based Alex Trenoweth is an astrologer, writer, musician and high school teacher. She has an MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology from Bath Spa University, and applies her theories in her teaching. All welcome and please email Alex to say you are coming.

Mythic London: Walking the Talk
Discover the myth and magic of the City of London. This walk visits the sites where legend and history meet, taking in the goddesses, gods and guardians. It stops at ancient temples, maypole sites and holy wells to bring to life the sacred city behind the concrete and the traffic. Caroline Wise has been researching legendary London for thirty years, and she sees a coherent mythos of the City; thus the day follows a processional way from the prehistoric to the medieval and beyond. We promise an inspiring time. Duration is 3 and a half hours, including numerous stops. It will proceed rain or shine so come prepared for all weather.

Santa Muerte Cult: Devoted to Death
Dr Andew Chesnut
World expert Dr Andrew Chesnut introduces the cult of Santa Muerte (‘Saint Death’) a Latin American skeleton saint who has attracted millions of devotees although condemned by the official church. She is patron saint of drug traffickers, protector of dealers in crystal meth and marijuana; officials often find her altars in the safe houses of drug smugglers. She is also a supernatural healer, love doctor, money-maker, lawyer, and angel of death. Andrew Chesnut, quoted regularly in the press, brings her to life in an engaging illustrated talk. Signed copies of his book Devoted to Death will be on sale.

A Workshop on ‘Transmogrification’ with Nikki Wyrd
Looking for experience in chaos magick? Nikki Wyrd is a practitioner for over twenty years , and is head head of the British Section of the IOT. She a gifted pracitioner and facilitator, so if you want to explore magic hands-on, this day is for you. She writes: ‘Self-transformation lies at the heart of progress in the discipline. We will discuss various aspects of the work, and do some conjurations to make ourselves more successful, both as magicians and people. We will touch on: invocation in everyday life, habit changing, enchanting for material results, and divination of potential futures.’ All are welcome.

Kenneth Anger’s Occultism

Kenneth Anger is a legend of avant-garde film and a key figure in the counterculture and the late 1960s occult revival. Tonight, a leading expert on esotericism and film considers the way in which Anger created and deployed a unique cinematic occult system in his films, which function as magical rituals for their audiences as well as for their maker. Anger’s magical system, iconography and film making methods are unpacked with clarity of depth and understanding. Judith Noble has a lifelong career in film and media, and decades of study of western esoteric ideas. She now lectures at the Arts University, Bournemouth.

Edward Kelley Birthday
Enochian Magic’s Co-founder
Born 1st August 1555, Elizabethan alchemist Edward Kelley is famed for his magical workings and Bohemian adventures with the learned John Dee. Together they did angelic magic – and brought through what they believed was the language of the angels – Enochian. Very much the bad boy of the pair, Kelley was nevertheless the one who scryed into the crystal ball, who saw the angels, who received messages from spirits. Tonight we remember him, flaws and all. There will be merriment, a short illustrated presentation, a birthday cake, a bit of dramatised diologue based on conversations recorded in manuscripts. And a free drink for everyone arriving in caps with earflaps.

Herbalist Walk at Mile End
Natasha Richardson, Herbalist
Join Natasha on a herb walk along the canal at Mile End to discover the herbs growing there, and learn their medicinal properties. She will share the traditions, folklore, preparations and modern uses of these plants, and allow you to build your herbal knowledge. She will show you how you can use them yourself, and will demonstrate onsite by making a medicinal tincture. To finish, Natasha will lead a creative activity to help you get to know one particularly special herb more intimately. These teaching walks are extemely popular.
