Set the wife a challenge to cook 32 dinners - one based on each qualifiers' native cuisine - before the World Cup this summer.

I fear that some of the more exotic ones are gonna be a bit hard to pull off.

She's doing a blog on it - http://worldcupdinners.blogspot.fr - and a Twitter @worldcupdinners http://twitter.com/worldcupdinners

We also seem to have some kind of voodoo going on as shortly after each dinner someone of relative note for each country has died...

5/1 - Algerian Actor M'hamed Benguettaf
10/1 - Belgian Motorcycle Driver Eric Palante
12/1 - French Priest Francois Joseph Pierre Denian
18/1 - Ghanian Broadcaster Komla Dumor

Switzerland are up next!

Being Glaswegian I'll wager this may be the one time your pleased Scotland didn't qualify?

(Pies, lentil soup and Lorne sausage aside)

Is that steak pies or mutton pies?

Potato soup, mince & tatties, fish, haggis, white or black pudding suppers, salmon, venison... Laughing

Wee round pies from McHargs...

Come to think of it...bridies, tottie scones, Irn Bru, soor plooms and chicken pakora.

Aside from them...what have the Romans ever done for us?

McAvennie,

I look upon you with a Gene Hunt awe and reflect weakly on the probable response to my suggesting that Mrs Yithian participate in a culinary challenge.

It involves hard stares at the very least.

Edit: I had no idea that you were a fellow ex-pat. I've counted enough to possibly warrant a thread....

Not to worry, my disappointment at Scotland's failure to qualify for this global cook off was eased by last night's premature Burns Supper!

And Yith, yep, been an ex-pat for near three years now. It's a good life.
