RIP RW, one of the good guys of the old Juliard / SNL alumni. We were very lucky to have him. Some of his roles really picked me up from the doldrums during a depressive few years in my youth - namely Peter Pan / Banning in Hook, and John Keating in DPS, the role I most admired him in, and, perhaps ironically, the one he relies least on his comic genius for. A brilliant man. Belushi will be relieved that he's finally made it through. What those two could have created together...

I've had many a laugh courtesy of Robin Williams. So sad he couldn't lift his own spirits as much as he has those of others. R.I.P. Robin Williams!

His performance in Good Morning Vietnam was fantastic, a force of nature.

RIP Sad

I'm so sorry to hear the news of Robin William's passing. What a terrible loss.

I hope he's at peace now.

In one of his last films, World's Greatest Dad (which he's great in), his character describes suicide as "A permanent solution to a temporary problem". Always remember him as the Genie in Aladdin, a brilliant performance, and he always seemed like a genuinely decent, humane man. "But doctor, I am Pagliacci." RIP.

I was growing up with Mork & Mindy on TV. The humor was often crazy compared to other sitcoms. I remember Jonathan Winters as the baby Mearth.

Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

I'm so sorry to hear this.

My Grandma and Granddad met him when he just becoming famous as Mork (in Happy Days). They'd gone to America to visit a relative for a while, and he happened to live in the same apartment block (i.e. next door neighbour).
He just popped in to borrow some pots and pans because he was entertaining friends (or something), and he was introduced to my grandparents.
They didn't have a clue who he was! Smile
They thought he was a lovely, funny bloke and he made a lasting impression on them (even though they met him just once).

He had severe financial troubles, which is shocking given the billions in revenue he must have generated for other people over the years. And his new tv series had just been cancelled, he must have been really up against it for money, had to sell his house and lots of other things etc.

Lauren Bacall dies aged 89. Next year's Oscars will be quite a sad affair, methinks. RIP, Ms Bacall.

The image I had of Robin Williams, on hearing of his death, was the disembodied head in Gilliam's Munchhausen film. He was uncredited on that.

The manic side of his nature made most of his happy films a bit trying for me; I could conjecture the other side but not the awfulness of this. RIP. Sad

The death of Bacall might have heralded a longer tribute season, in the days we had them. We will make up our own, now; the measure of her success must be the number of her films we have. RIP. Sad

edit: tightened.

We enjoyed Bacall's cameo as herself in The Sopranos some years back, when she was mugged by the Mob and had her lavish gift basket nicked. What a sport. Very Happy
