Brazilian inmate gets stuck
Rafael Valadão, the well-built tattooed convict, tried to follow one of his smaller fellow prisoners who had already made a bid for freedom through the gap.
But he was left screaming for help when he became wedged while others tried to force him through the hole they had made with a metal shower pipe.
“He has a very large physique and is also very tall,” said Lieutenant Tiago Costa, of the local fire brigade.
“The other prisoners tried to push him but he stayed stuck in the wall. He started screaming in pain, and that was when the prison guards were alerted.”
The prisoner tried to break free late on Monday night at a prison in Ceres, near Goiania, according to Jornal Populacional.

Paedophile snared by police after he takes picture of a girl at his home with shop sign in the background
By Daily Mail Reporter
PUBLISHED: 11:36, 29 December 2012 | UPDATED: 11:36, 29 December 2012
Police traced a paedophile to his home after the indecent picture he took of a girl had a giveaway shop sign in the background.
David Mellor, 62, didn't spot he had included it when he photographed the underage girl, in his kitchen and posted the picture on the internet.
But officers in Lincoln recognised the sign and identified the street and his home from the picture’s angle.
The image was seen on a file-sharing website by a specialist officer with the Child Exploitation and Online Protection unit.
When police raided Mellor's property they found more then 8,000 indecent images of children on a computer.
He was jailed for six years at Lincoln Crown Court after admitting 18 sex offences involving indecent images and also breaking a court prevention order.
He had been jailed for three years in 2006 over child abuse crimes.
Prosecutor Andrew Scott said: 'The officers must be commended for excellent detective work using their local knowledge.
'When police entered the property it was obvious where the photograph had been taken.'
The court heard how Mellor broke his court order by becoming friendly with two young girls under the age of 13 in West Yorkshire after his release from prison.
When he got the youngsters alone, he asked them to remove their clothes before taking snaps.
One visited him for several days after he moved to Lincoln. Judge Sean Morris branded Mellor 'dangerous'.
Peter Davies, Chief Executive of the online unit, said: 'Offenders may think their activities are anonymous online but this is simply not the case. They can and will be found and have to face the consequences of their actions'

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-foyle-west-20881881
The thief said he was so drunk he can remember nothing of the incident
A police officer has told Londonderry Magistrates Court that a man who stole a CCTV camera from a house was so drunk he was later spotted petting it on the ground.
24-year-old Peter Morrison from Heron Way in the city, was found guilty of ripping the camera off a wall at Adelaide Avenue.
The court was told the house owner saw the incident on his monitor.
He drove after Morrison and caught up with him outside a local supermarket.
It was there he saw him petting the CCTV camera on the ground.
The house owner detained Morrison and contacted the police.
After he was arrested Morrison told the police he was so drunk he could remember nothing about the incident.
Morrison, who admitted committing the theft and criminal damage offences in April 2011, was fined £180 and ordered to pay compensation of £120. |

Durham Oriental Museum artefact theft: a 'complete farce'
The theft of £1.8m worth of Chinese artefacts from a Durham museum was a "complete farce", a court has heard.
An 18th Century jade bowl and a Dehua porcelain figurine were stolen during the raid at Durham University's Oriental Museum in April.
Lee Wildman, 35, and Adrian Stanton, 32, both from Walsall, previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to burgle.
The pair are due to be sentenced for their part in the raid at Durham Crown Court later.
Judge Christopher Prince said the plan was not "sophisticated" and had been reduced to a "complete farce".
The court heard how the ornaments were hidden on waste land in the Browney Lane area of Durham after the break-in, "possibly in a panic", and could later not be found.
A witness spotted Wildman two days later searching the waste land, speaking on his phone and "seeming agitated", the court heard.
Judge Prince said: "This is not an offence that can be described as sophisticated.
"Although this burglary was carried out according to a prepared plan, there were elements towards the end of it that reduced the plan to complete farce."
In court, the pair admitted only a small part in the plan, claiming they were recruited to try to steal the ornaments while the museum was open, then later providing a car for an unnamed gang.
The bowl and figurine were later found on the waste land by a member of the public.
The judge said: "Lawyers with many years experience have not seen a case where thieves have hidden property where they just could not find it afterwards, let alone property of this cultural importance and enormous value."
Both men will be sentenced later along with four others charged in connection with the raid.

| Quote: | Medford man pretends stolen Somerville beer is his genitals
Police arrested a 26-year-old Medford man after he reportedly stole two cans of beer, told a woman that the cans were his penis and then threw one of the cans at her. Jonathan Scull of 50 Newbern Ave. was charged with threat to commit a crime, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, shoplifting by concealment and resisting arrest.
Police responded on Feb. 26 at 6:57 p.m. to Woody’s Liquors on Broadway for a report of assault. A female employee told police she saw a man, later identified as Scull put two cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon down his pants and leave the store. She followed him onto Broadway and asked him why he had a bulge in his pant leg around his ankle. He replied, “It’s my [genitals]!” The woman said she pointed out that the bulge around his ankle was clearly not his genitals. The man then threw a beer can at her head and fled down William Street into Medford.
Police caught up with Scull in Medford, where Scull reportedly told them that since they weren’t in Somerville, his actions at the liquor store were none of their business and they should “f--- off.” Police said Scull refused to be handcuffed and screamed obscenities as three officers tackled him. He reportedly told officers that if they removed his handcuffs he would “kick the s--- out of them,” and that he would have killed them if they didn’t have badges.

Bungling Hayle vandal caught white footed in bed after leaving paint trail
6:10pm Friday 5th July 2013 in News
It was a case of being caught not such much red handed as white footed for one vandal in Hayle after he left a trail of white paint from the crime scene, and was arrested in bed.
Clear footprints in white paint led police officers directly from the scene of a crime to the culprit, who was found in bed at his home, his face and sheets covered in paint, with paint on his feet.
He was Aaron James Lee, aged 24, who was then living at Foundry Flats, Hayle, but now living at Heamoor, Penzance.
At Truro’s magistrates’ court he pleaded guilty to criminal damage to a Mercedes van to the value of £50, at Hayle, on February 8.
Alison May, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said police had received a report in the early hours and in the Millpond car park at Hayle saw the Mercedes with its nearside covered in paint. They followed footprints leading from it across the road and to Lee’s home, forced the door open and found him in bed.
He told the officers he had been walking through the car park when he saw a pot of paint and stamped on it. It exploded and the contents went over the van.
He had previous convictions.
His solicitor Paul Simons said he had booted the paint tin stupidly and it was inevitable he would be caught. He had a drink problem but had stopped drinking now and was getting help.
Lee was fined £50 and told to pay £50 compensation and £20 victim surcharge.

German tourist takes blog revenge on the man who stole her smartphone
A German tourist who had her smartphone pinched from a beach on Ibiza has taken revenge on the thief who failed to switch off the device’s photograph upload function by turning pictures of his life into a blog.
By Bruno Waterfield
12:27PM BST 01 Aug 2013
After returning home to Germany, the young woman discovered that photographs of the robber and his home city Dubai were automatically uploaded to her "Dropbox" file storage space from her stolen HTC smartphone.
"Everything was gone. Money, purses, smartphones, passports, birthday presents and clothes (besides his underpants). This must have happened in the time span of 15 minutes. Well, that sucked quite hard," the unnamed woman wrote of the robbery on her blog.
"Back in Germany, a few days after Christmas, four months after the Ibiza trip, I turned on my computer and noticed 15 new pictures inside my Dropbox camera upload folder. Long story short: the thief of my smartphone didn't delete my Dropbox app, not to mention my login data. Every photo he takes appears instantly on my computer, what a douche."
The woman decided to launch a revenge blog, called "life of a stranger who stole my phone", after the robber used her phone to log in to Facebook account in order to chat her up, leaving his name, Hafid and his contact details.
"What really made me wonder about his stupidity, was when I found out that he entered my Facebook account AND sent me a personal message from his own account to hit on me," she wrote. "That's why I know his name is Hafid."
"Hafid" also used her phone's automatic log-in details to call up her friends on her Skype account, conversations that are recorded and published on the blog.
"I Hafid, from United Emirates," he told one of her friends. "How did you call me," replied the woman. "Wha, what. Aaah. I want eh know you," he said.
The blog, described as "one of the funniest acts of revenge in the internet age" by Germany Bild newspaper, publishes Hafid's pictures with mocking commentary about him and his friends.
One photograph of he and friends partying is captioned: "Celebrate good crimes, come on!".
Another shows the robber posing, with the words, "Who's gotcha phone? I Hafid".
