At my work, we have makeup/cosmetic events and people take pictures at them sometimes for our head office. Anyway, the other day one of the girls at work was looking through pics from about a year ago and discovered you can VERY clearly see a disembodied head behind one of the employees.

If you look to the left of the blonde woman, you can clearly see a woman's face glaring at the camera. (I have erased the faces of the 2 employees). Her face is smaller than the other 2 people in the photo and the edges are blurred, which is strange.

The pic was taken with a digital camera and printed at our store photo lab. It had never been uploaded to a computer ( so it couldn't have been photo shopped).
I have been told that there is one possible way for an image to appear in another photograph: If the memory card had been previously erased, some of it could possibly have remain behind on the memory card and shown up on another photo.

I'm not declaring this is definitely a ghost...just wanted some other opinions

P.S... WEIRD, unexplainable things happen in that department!

No, I am pretty sure that can't happen.

I'd say that theoretically it could, because the images are never totally erased. The police can have erased data retrieved and you can buy the software that does it yourself.

Why the random remaining pixesls would be the same ones that made up just a face is another matter, though. Wink

It would be worth putting the pic on a computer where it can be examined more carefully. Changes in size, contrast, colour intensity, etc, may highlight new clues.

Since you're dealing in make-up, I assume there'd be a few mirrors around. If there was one in the background, it may have caught the face of a passing customer. If this customer was behind the photographer, her image would be further away than the subjects of the photo, which explains why it is smaller and out of focus. (I assume the camera focuses automatically on the subject.) The face appears to be glancing at the camera and the subjects because she is - only not from where she appears to be! (She's actually looking at the photographer's back, and the faces of the subjects.)

Rynner's post makes sense, but the mirror would be an odd shape. Can you re-take the photograph? Or show us some other pics in the same place? There's no chance it could be a cut-out or other type of advertisement banner?Cheers. Wink

It could be someone's face reflected in one of those round vanity, or shaving, mirrors. The sort that can be adjusted to an angle and that have their own stand, turned partially side on, possibly? There's something odd going on, under the face. Is it part of a stand, or some sort of armature, attached to the display shelving, allowing you to pull out the mirror and adjust it to your height and to the best light? If it's a magnifying mirror, then perhaps the face is in better focus, compared to the rest of the mirror frame?

I was thinking of a circular or oval frameless mirror, something like a man's shaving mirror.

Yes, you can 'undelete' files because when a file is deleted, only the header information in the file is changed. The rest of the data is still there.
Once you overwrite that 'deleted' data with new files, then it becomes increasingly difficult to resurrect that old data.

However, I have never heard of part of a deleted file leaking through into a currently-active file.

Strangely enough, that was exactly my first thought too.

The face does look oddly cut off on the left side, like you could draw a straight line from the top to the bottom of it.

I'd guess a mirror image too, though the mirror might have to be oddly shaped.

You mean like this:

I thought that for a minute, but it looks too real.

Yeah, like that. Looking at the pic again, the ghost looks slightly out of focus compared to the rest of it, suggesting it's been grafted onto the photo, but the way the blonde lady's head blocks out half of it suggests it was actually there.
