When I was approximately 4 years old I fell into a swimming pool and sank to the bottom. Not knowing how to swim it was weird how I had total peace, even though I knew I would drown. There were no adults or other kids at the pool. This was a private pool in the back yard of a friend's home. Everyone was inside the house at the time.
Something or someone physically grabbed me underneath my arms and lifted me out of the water onto the side of the pool. I turned around and no one was there. I just sat there feeling so good inside.
A few minutes later the adults and other kids came out and my mother yelled at me for going into the water before she was there. I never told her all that happened....I just felt that I needed to keep it secret.
Anyone else ever had an experience like this? I truly believe in guardian angels and that they have protected me more than once in my lifetime. |

Must be something about 4 year olds I think. At that age I was watching my father chop wood for the fire. We had an old fashioned clothes line with thin rope which hung down in a loop down the sides of the poles . I remember standing on a chunk of wood and twisting around on the loop of rope. I slipped off and the rope was tight around my throat, I couldn"t make any noise, but I too felt really calm, there was no pain and I felt as if I was being supported.
After awhile my mother came to the back door, saw me and yelled out to my father who came and untangled me. She said that she heard someone outside calling her. |

Two fantastic stories there, thanks for sharing them. Guardian Angels are a tricky one for me, i really dont know. But as long as things like this continue to happen who cares if there reall or not. |

| flyboyatjvl, your experience sounds a bit like the experinece of one of the only 2 people to survive the sinking of hms hood in wwII (it was on uk telly a couple of christmases ago). apparently, he was being pulled under the water and drowning after the ship exploded then suddenly felt something lifting him upwards, although maybe this was the result of vorticies in the turbulent water, or something. |

This brings to my mind a couple of incidents I have experienced... the first one happened about 4 years ago. I was having a dream where I was in a theatre... on the stage there were several demons all plotting something big that was about to happen... I could hear every word (alas, non that I could remember when I woke up). Anyway, I was spotted and the demons started to chase me... finally I fell of a cliff and was falling... (You know when people say if you fall in a dream and hit the bottom it kills you... well, I believe this now because of what happened to me next)... I really was going to hit the bottom... when I felt myself being shaken awake... as if two very solid hands were shaking my shoulders... to such an extent it really did wake me up... and as I regained consciousness I was still being shaken by this invisible force.
The second thing, well... I was never a believer in 'Angels' as we see them in picture books, on TV etc... I believe we have spirit guides due to experiences in my life (such as the one I've just mentioned) however I thought 'angels' to be a Christian creation.... that is until I had the great pleasure of catching sight of one. I was on the bus with my two kids... my eldest sitting opposite me... I can't say I felt any thing at the time, I just glanced over at my son to see he was OK and caught a glimpse of it out the corner of my eye... and what I saw literally took my breath away... it was the wing of an angel... such an ethereal light was coming off the feathers as if they glittered with some magical light.... I only caught it for a second, but that second was enough to enlighten me.
They say if you see feathers close by it means your angel is with you... I've seen many white feathers since that day, and every time I see one I feel at peace. |

| I'm always seeing white feathers everywhere (on my clothes, in my hair, etc) - but usually they're just feathers from the pillows on my bed! |

There was a similar story on here somewhere recently about this guy who nearly fell off a roof while working for his Dad as a kid. He said he felt a hand on his back stopping him from falling. |

If there are Guardian Angels, and if there is an afterlife (two big IFs there!), then WHY do these angels save us from death?
Is it the old idea that we are on this earth to learn lessons, or to achieve some other task, and that it's important we are not 'offed' before our proper time?
Any other ideas? And how does this tie in with reincarnation?
So many people die 'senseless' deaths every day - why are just a very few pulled back from the brink of the cliff?
Discuss!
(As if you need me to tell you...!) |

| Well in the cases mentioned above they were very small - so almost definately "before their time". Maybe they have a purpose or a part to play in a bigger picture - effecting the lives of other people. Of course, sadly, children die every day... so I don't quite know how it all fits together. That's one of the reasons I find it so hard to believe in God. If Angels and God do exist then why do they allow some people to live who appear unworthy and let innocents die.
Look at the tsunami for instance. I am sure if everyone had a guardian angel then more people would have survived.
I am not saying they do not exist I just find it hard to believe they do |

| Maybe it's all part of the universe's masterplan? Or, if there are angels maybe they have reasons of their own for what they do (a bit 'Sandman' I know, for anyone that's a Neil Gaiman fan) |

As far as I have been able to find out so far, most angels seem more concerned with fighting each other and falling to earth, there to corrupt us with heinous deviances such as astronomy and make-up. So I guess the "good" ones that are left have their work cut out and just find themselves unable to cope sometimes? |
