On the subject of the new Daft Punk album, that clip of an astronaut seeing a UFO on the last track - that's made up, isn't it? Just wondering.

I've been listening to various bits and pieces by The Waterboys - and it's like time is flowing backwards.

First Aid Kit: The Lion's Roar. I suppose you'd call it Swedish country music, if you can imagine such a thing. You don't need to imagine it, of course, here's an example of the sisters trilling:

The harmonies are really quite startling, it's a very addictive album just to hear those melodies. Probably more of a winter album, but this weather's too hot for me anyway.

That's right, the Soderberg sisters (Johanna and Klara) from Stockholm as referred to in that song I linked to. Some call them folk or psychedelic indie, but they sound like eerie Nashville tunes to me.

Today I have mainly been listening to Cats in the Lavatory

A response, so it says, to the growing problem of toilet felines.

The version on Youtube is a remix and lasts only two and a half minutes

I don't think the original version ends at all. Shocked

Mr Weebl was responsible for the famous Badger-Mushroom-Snake song as well as the thrilling Look at My Horse, which I play to annoy the neighbours.

He seems to be mightily prolific.

When I am not listening to Cats in the Lavatory, I am usually enjoying Narwhals or Somalia which is much the same as Kenya, it seems.

Owls is really best avoided at bedtime Shocked

Nice to see someone else picking up on Swedish and other scandinavian music. First Aid Kit make very enjoyable music, influenced, as is much contemporary swedish music by north american country-rock music.

The only thing wrong with the FAK Lion's Roar album is when the bloke starts singing in the penultimate track, it's a bit jarring. Apart from that, wonderful melodies.

That's really good. So many useful safety lessons there, too. Smile

an intro to other current female scandinavian acts here :

http://www.thelineofbestfit.com/features/lists/iconic-pop-the-ten-singers-and-bands-leading-the-female-fronted-nordic-music-revolution-129096

- these are breaking acts, not established singers such as Ane Brun, Rebekka Karijord, Anna Ternheim and Nina Kinert. All worth checking out.

Thank you for introducing me to this! Downloaded the album and it's perfect for these hot summer days! The video for "Wolf" is great too!
