The Hierophant has been missing presumed ascended from the pages of FT for too long, it's time to take action.
In view of this I've created an online petition, that should, hopefully, encourage the powers that be at FT to bring him back if we get enough people signing it, or at least a lesser member of the Illuminati to fill in until he can return from whatever higher dimension he is currently inhabiting.
the petition is here:
http://www.gopetition.com/online/7445.html
You only need leave your email address and name, not an address or anything and the emails are not used for any nefarious purposes so theres no excuse for not signing (in fact if you have more than one email address you could sign a few times and use different names, but I would not condone such tactics as I'm a good boy). |

Wasn't there a request - some months back - for the Hierophant to get in touch with Fortean Towers?
I was under the impression that he'd wandered (or worse?) as opposed to having been exiled.
I agree his column was well worth reading though. |

In which case the petition could be used to show the hirophant himself that he should consider a return, even if it is a bi-monthly or occasional occurance. At least it would be if people would sign it (bah) |

Just signed it myself - well done Oll, I have been wondering about what happened to the Hierophant for ages.
How come the petition has been categorised under 'Religion' though? I mean, I know we're all extremely loyal to the mag an' all, but....

The Heirophant cast a cynical yet amiable eye over the wild, whacky and weird world of Forteana.
I DEMAND his release immediately! Or else we should get a wandering (and Fortean) minstrel to stagger around the Fortean world, singing a particularly noisesome song about goblins until The Heirophant completes a verse, with amusing mime!
Bring back the chrome-domed figure of respect!! |

My bad, there was a little bit when completing the online petition where you put your petition in a category or theres a window where you can type another category in.
I thought "I know, I'll call it's category 'Illuminati and ascended masters' I bet it'll be the only one with that category, Ho-ho.". it lasted about 30 seconds before the killjoys at the petitions website not understanding what the Illuminati are assumed it was something religious and changed it without consulting me, but i like the category pic so I probably won't try to change it. |

Yonks ago, I edited a club magazine which had a "gossip columnist" who's identity remained unknown. However, as editor I was let into the secret - the column was in fact a cluster of gossip picked up by all the club officers, each thinking their item was being included in the Muckspreader's article.
Perhaps if one writer doesn't want to be the Heirophant, they could 'farm out' the column to several contributors. |

Perhaps the FT could have a 'Heirophant of the month' |

The Heirophant was a little piece that used to run in the Fortean Times that read like a commentary on various Fortean comings-and-goings: a bit of gossipy, a bit of humour etc., etc.. and accompanied by great cartoons of a Ming the Merciless-alike in a smoking jacket.
Much missed to be honest. |

| I always assumed that the Hierophant was a commitee and that the editorial staff simply got bored with their creation. Personally, I don't miss him in the least, but if gossip is your thing, there's plenty (of the Ufological variety at least) over at Saucer Smear. |

It wasn't, I know exactly who the Hierophant is/was as I was chatting to Richard Freeman about it a few months back, he's not one of the FT editorial team, but I'm not going to say what his name is as that would spoil the illusion.
I was hoping for a few more sigs though, as it stands the 'petition' will not convince anyone that the hierophant should return, so if you haven't signed please sign it and if you know anyone else who may want to sign or any other fortean message board where they read the mag please help to spread the word. |
