I have never used a board, but I spoke quite recently to a woman whose 'ghost hunting group' did a session in a wood just outside London, and got some very confusing messages.

After a bit of to-ing and fro-ing, according to her, it turned out that they were in communication with a group of board users in the same wood, but hailing from the year 2043.

There is material here for a great short story, I think.
