Wales and Welsh, embarrassing place-names -- I say, pooh ! They've got nothing on Austria, which is full of communities hilariously named from an Anglophone's point of view. There's Fucking (which has its "you are entering" signs stolen so often by English-speaking visitors, that it becomes wearisome to the locals). And there are Rottenegg and Rottenmann; and the holiday villages near Innsbruck, Mutters and Natters. And there's a small spa town called Bad Hall -- the latter being my surname, I can't help but feel mildly offended...

Down here in Sussex we have Upper Dicker and Lower Dicker. And Fulking, which sounds rude but isn't.

Oh, and Cocking.

I'm not sure if this counts.. but I just spent 3 days trying to convince Youtube that I made the images I used in a video.

I had to get written permission from myself to prove I could use the images.. They sent two forms for me to fill in with details of the "third party creator". The form really said that.. No box to say "Yes, I made these images, here is the proof", just "give us the details of who you stole the images from so we can check it's ok for you to be using them" Rolling Eyes

I sent them a link to my DeviantART page where I originally posted the images in my attempt to attract new viewers.. I edited the description to include the written permission.. to myself.

It was either that or email myself.. and I know I take ages to reply.. There was a 14 day limit to get the permission and the warning signs around the video were starting to worry me.. so I didn't have time to wait for me to reply..

I'll post the story about the house I lived in during my third year of uni.. one day.. It's why I joined in the first place.. :p

Is this on first posting or after some query about it?

I'm taking my pup-shags-draught-excluder vid straight to MGM!

They haven't been doing so well since Judy went. imo

After some query.. I uploaded with what I thought was all the relevant information, links back to where I originally posted the images (with the same username) and everything seemed to be ok..

Then the next day I got an email asking for more information.. so I gave them more information.

Then a day later warnings appeared around the video, there was a countdown timer and a choice to either fill in a form with details about the third party creator or have my channel shut down Shocked

It was probably the work of an overly zealous Youtube Moderator but it forced me into the ridiculous situation of having to get written permission from myself to use my own images in a video I made..

I'm beginning to wonder if you tube is run by the UK civil service.

I'm just dealing with the Irish Civil Service, had to search long and hard for the appropriate contact email add. No desire to be left on the lo-call line.

Sigh, remember when I was on the other side of the barricade.

Edit to fix typo.

I've never had that with any of my videos, in most cases music that I own the copyright to but with video I don't but that's within permitted use.

A while back one video had 3 reports of copyright violation made against it overnight... tbh I think there are just some assholes who go around youtube looking for things they don't like to report.

I've never had any problems either, until this last one.

I told them all the programs I used to make all the models and textures in the video, I have a few videos with sound effects.. I made all the sounds too Laughing This is the first time they have ever asked for "third party creator" details so I'm hoping it's just a one off..

I haven't had any reports yet.. but I get a lot of downvotes Sad
