Are you thinking of the time Maggie shot Mr Burns? Or did I miss another one?

I'm hoping it's Bart. Hit by a truck, zooming across a road on his skateboard when the lights are at red. A useful lesson in road safety.

while the infamous "Treehouse of Horror VI" episode presents the most intense five minutes of mathematics ever broadcast to a mass audience.

Is that the one where Homer gets sucked into the black hole and he's saying "I wish I'd read that book by that wheelchair guy!"

I'm not sure it's 100% comprehensive, but anyone wanting a cheat sheet might check the chronologically ordered list of references posted at Yahoo:

The Who Shot Mr Burns? business was an homage to Dallas. A season-end cliffhanger featured a dastardly attack on the power station magnate.
The Dallas scenario had the oil tycoon, JR Ewing, bumped off by a mysterious figure with a gun.

Pretty comprehensive from what I saw as it went through. And a couple of references I didn't immediately get. Nothing about the head of Jebediah Springfield, though.

Of course, my favourite was the Hypnotoad from the lamentably twice-cancelled Futurama. (Then again, it's probably best they leave it now.)

I liked The Phantom of the Paradise and The Car. Ah, the 70s.
