A friend of mine asked me to post this... she's been having problems posting Smile

I recently read an interesting article about a Dr John Harries who lived in
mid Wales in the 19th Century. The article said that he was a wizard who
would yearly go up into the mountains above his home and open the pathway to
hell using the Book with the Seven Locks. I had never heard of him before
but apparently he is still talked about in the neighbourhood with his books
of spells being kept in the National Library of Wales.

There is quite a lot of evidence and several stories about his powers. He
apparently could tell people where stolen rings were, and cows and even
bodies. The article says that he once told a family where the body of a
missing girl lay and who had killed her. As a result he was brought before
the bench at Llandovery and charged as an accomplice. Harries looked at the
magistrates and offered to tell them the date, to the hour , that they would
die. He was immediately acquitted.

The article was in the March edition of the SAGA magazine.
