Madeleine McCann: UK prosecutors visit Portugal to discuss new leads

Quote:
Senior prosecutors have travelled to Portugal in a move that could pave the way for the Metropolitan police to begin a new investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
etc

The last line interests me -

Quote:
Scotland Yard also published an age-enhanced image of what Madeleine might look like today, aged nine, saying they had uncovered new information to suggest she could still be alive and living with her abductor.

Shocked

Yes, I did wonder where the 'living with her abductor' bit came from. Looks like a spot of creative interpretation to me.

If she were indeed to be found alive in the abductor's home, well, what a can of worms that would open. Shocked

I could just imagine she has been sold to a millionaire childless couple living in a mansion in southern Spain and the cops find her and say "Good news. You're going back to Leicester."

I am being serious. If she was snatched to be sold to a rich childless couple then if she is found then she would be too young to remember her family and it would be cruel to Madeleine to take her away from the life that she has.

I admit it would be more cruel for her parents but she was snatched so young that she probably does not remember her life in Leicester.

Or what if it was just an irregular adoption? Rich couple didn't know child was was snatched, got her through dodgy adoption agency,

Rich couple could argue that McCanns weren't fit parents, left children on their own in an unlocked apartment. While they were on the piss with mates.

Make an interesting legal case.

I think the high-profile nature of the case and the weird eye thing she had make it highly unlikely any couple would be able to bring her up normally as an adopted child.

Look how many kids have been fingered as Madeleine McCann by over-excited holidaymakers who have seen a young girl that bears a slight resemblance to her.

If she has been abducted in a non-terrible way then the rich family would have to keep her in a walled compound or somewhere very, very remote.

I'm afraid for me, since the arguido status stage, I have seen or heard nothing that alters my opinion of what happened to her.

Occam's razor for me slices through any number of Scooby Doo suspects that have been dished out to the media over the years - even the one who had no features.

Just spotted this - Madeleine McCann: police target 38 suspects

Quote:
British detectives are targeting 38 potential suspects from five countries as they open a new criminal investigation into Madeleine McCann six years after she went missing from her family's holiday apartment in Portugal.

A formal request for assistance has been sent to the Portuguese authorities as officers from the Metropolitan police pursue what senior detectives involved say are "new theories and new evidence" about what happened to the three-year-old.

Detectives are preparing to be based in Portugal once the authorities there approve, as anticipated, the request to provide assistance to the British investigation.
etc

38 suspects, eh?

I think it's highly unlikely the actual abductor is on that list.

We'll see. Compiling a list of suspects and working through it is good solid police practice. If the abduction theory is correct (and of course not everyone agrees with it) and the abductor is on the list, they will have to account for what went on that night.

There's that intriguing mention again of the idea that Madeleiene is still alive.
An interesting ongoing discussion I used to have with a former colleague was about the likelihood of her being kept alive, in secret somewhere, for child prostitution purposes, without anyone involved blabbing about the famous little prisoner. We agreed that it seemed unlikely.

Why else would she be kept alive, or abducted in the first place, if not for sex? There were two very young toddlers present who'd be more suitable for illegal 'adoption'.

Again though, there's very little new information to talk about. Or rather, if there is, we're not being told yet. Wink

If she was abducted for noncey sex, they would probably just have disposed of her when all the media hoo-har started and got another one.
