OK - there should be a pm waiting for you. Try replying to it, and if you can't, post back here. |

Sorry to bump a stale thread, but this seemed a more sensible and tidy option than starting a new one.
Is the avatar still limited to a size of 80x80 pixels? Because I purposely made my avatar that size yet on my computer it appears far smaller than some of those of long-standing users.
Also, was a size restriction ever determined for signature images? I see nothing in my profile options mentioning it. |

I'm glad you bumped this (although it's already a sticky) because I've been wanting to post an avatar for a while, but was unsure of the restrictions/limitations.
80px seems awfully small.... |

| Paul, your avatar is of the average size but ramonmercado has quite a big one, or so he would have us beleive. |

Yeah, Ramon's is about the limit, really he said obliquely. Any wider and it starts mucking up the margins esp for people reading via tablet or smartphone.
80x80 was the original limit, but I've now expanded it to 150 high by 110 wide. Any problems PM Jack, Pietro or me.
As for signatures, I've doubled the character limit to 500. I'm loath extend any more, as we had a rash of absurdly big signatures a few years ago which made navigating the board very difficult for some.
See how that goes. |

What about image size in sigs? Are we allowed to put images in sigs, or is it text only? Certainly, I've seen one or two images in sigs. I was thinking of only a 100 pixels high or something.
Thanks for your prompt response! |

You're welcome .Sig pic size - again, keep them small - 100 pixels high should be fine, and not so wide it screen breaks. As I said earlier we had a shed load a while ago that just eclipsed everything else, so if any do get posted that are ginormous we take them out and PM the poster.
To insert sig pics, just use the ordinary image tags as you would in body text. Give us a shout if any issues. |

I notice that quite a few people have lost their avatars.
Is this something to do with the FTMB, or is it just that individual users have let things slide? |

| Nothing this end. I have noticed that in some browsers avatars are replaced with the word "avatar", even to me, so I think it's a browser issue. |

Mine has gone since the demise of my BT website, where the pic was hosted. I also had a few I kept on there for old-time posters who did not have sites. Takes us back to the days before Facebook etc. etc. I don't think any of those posters are still around in those old incarnations, though.
I think at one time the Message Board used to preserve the avatars, though they had to be uploaded from a site to begin with. Now it appears to depend on them being hosted elsewhere. |
