| Living, as I do, in the general area of said plague of severed feet, I have decided to keep a close eye on mine. It'd be terribly inconvenient if they decided to wander off and jump in the ocean one day. |

Yet another lone severed foot has come ashore in Vancouver...
Another foot washes ashore -- this time in Vancouver
By: ctvbc.ca
Date: Tuesday Aug. 30, 2011 8:30 PM PT
A running shoe containing what appears to be a human foot and leg bones has washed up in the waters off downtown Vancouver.
A passerby found the shoe floating in False Creek near the Plaza of Nations marina late Tuesday afternoon.
"[It was] quite disturbing -- quite a discovery to make," Vancouver Police Const. Jana McGuinness told reporters.
Police cordoned off the area and the BC Coroners Service has taken charge of the investigation.
The discovery marks the 12th discovery of a human foot washed up in the coastal region from B.C. to northwestern Washington since August 2007.
The most recent discovery was made on March 6, when a woman walking along a beach near Powell River found a running shoe containing remains.
One of the washed-up feet has been linked to a suspected suicide using DNA evidence.
Two feet found separately in New Balance running shoes in Richmond belong to the same woman, but she remains unidentified.
A matching pair of men's Nikes also remains unidentified, as well as a right male foot found in summer 2007.
So far, police say foul play isn't suspected in connection with any of the feet, which are believed to have detached naturally in the water. |

| Super creepy i just left there this morning my girlfriends condo looks down on false creek right where they found the foot, you could see her place on the news story. There are weird currents there in vancouver, and stuff could wash in from anywhere. Lots of people listed on vancouver police website who were last seen walking towards the bridge in a depressed state. Thereare also 10s of thousands of drug addicts in that town who no one would miss, and the likelyhood theres another serial killer like willie pickton is pretty high. It seems suspicious its just feet washing up to me, where is the rest of the body? I seem to recall one of the owners of one of the feet was identified and police said it wasnt suspected foul play. I read a good far out theory that it belongs to one of the 100 000 tsunami victims that was washed out to sea. Maybes its osamas foot. |

| Quite often murders in the criminal underworld end up like this, with body parts found. These people can be very organised and don't want forensic evidence lying around. |

| As I recall (from somewhere), bodies will decompose in water in such a way that the legs become detached from the torso, and most training shoes these days are constructed with layers of polymer foam materials which float, so the detached leg/shoe combo will continue to drift in the current when the rest of the body has decomposed elsewhere. |

Two more of the eight feet that have washed ashore in British Columbia since 2007 have been identified.
The BC Coroners Service says the feet belong to a woman who committed suicide by jumping from the Pattullo Bridge in New Westminster in 2004.
Her feet washed ashore along the Fraser River in Richmond four years later and autopsies showed the limbs had not be cut off, but separated from the legs naturally.
The coroner's office says DNA was used to identify the woman and her family has been notified, but doesn't want her name released.
Six of the eight feet that have washed ashore in B.C. since 2007 have now been identified as belonging to four people.
The service says it's still working to identify the other two, adding there's no evidence any of the deaths is suspicious.

Authorities say a human foot in a running shoe has washed ashore on San Francisco's Ocean Beach.
The National Park Service said a member of its beach patrol confirmed the report from a beachgoer.
Officials said there was no sign of the rest of the body.
Mark Powning, chief investigator of the San Francisco Medical Examiner's Office, told The San Francisco Chronicle the foot still had tissue attached.
"It probably was rolling around the seabed for awhile," Mr Powning told the newspaper.
The foot was inside a size 11 1/2 green-and-black-mesh Puma running shoe |
