According to Susie Dent that's the earliest reference to a 'Pecker'.

Here's some more:

OLD MYSTERIOUS PHOTOS THAT WILL HAUNT YOUR DREAMS

Looking at old vintage photos out of context is not only a recipe for creepiness, it’s also one of our favorite pastimes. What passed for everyday life 60+ years ago might send you running down the block screaming today. The following photos are downright eerie, anyway you spin it. And since we cannot explain many of them… it only leaves our imaginations running wild with the unspeakable horrors they were derived from. Enjoy!

Lewes? Ceremonial rites conducted in the days leading up to the Papal Bonfire?

I think we may have a thread somewhere on the lake where the horses got frozen in... forget the details but do recall there was a youtube video connected with it.

The one with 'Boris Karloff' I suspect may be corpse photography, not just from the way he's sat but the fact that the woman and child appear to be positioned conveniently to prop him up.

I'm glad I wasn't the kid in that shot. Shocked

I think the boy kidnapped by birch-wielding demons must be a victim of the Krampus, the dark side of Christmas. Question

Me too! The animals frozen to death with the two people nearby is pretty awful, though.

Not recognising any of those from Lewes........but then I would say that wouldn't I?

The one with the three kids - nothing scary about that. It was commonplace for the children's mothers to be 'disguised' in the shot to help keep the kids calm during the loooooooooooooong exposure.

Mmmn, I can't find a reference to the alleged stable fire in the 1930s that was supposed to have left the horses frozen into the lake.

The particular image seen above though, appears to be from a movie called Nothing But The Truth.

To me, those horses look like stone or metal sculptures, probably in a small lake or fountain. They are most likely supposed to represent 'white horses' that are seen as white foam on waves (i.e. horses thrashing about in the water).

The girl in white with a mask looks like she's taking part in Carnival, possibly The Burial of the Sardine in Madrid or similar.
The black robes and hoods are nazarenos taking part in Carrera Oficial during Holy Week in Seville.
