Sorry about the crap pun:
| Quote: | Three American students who worked in summer jobs at Nasa space agency and another person have been charged with stealing valuable moon rocks and attempting to sell them on the internet.
E-mail sent to FBI investigators
Undercover agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Nasa Office of the Inspector General arrested the four, aged between 19 and 26, after recovering a safe containing samples worth more than one million dollars.
It had been stolen from the Johnson Space Centre in Houston, Texas.
The FBI were alerted to the theft following an e-mail tip-off, and since May this year had communicated with a group claiming to offer the "priceless moon rocks" - which were collected by astronauts on the Apollo missions during the late 1960s and early 1970s - for sale. |

| On a sorta related note, I once worked with a bloke (who I'd better not name), whose job involved experiments with Moon rocks, usually in the form of small slivers. He told me that he accidentally washed a piece of Moon down a sink, and had to cover his tracks by fabricating some destructive tests to account for its loss! Apparently, every last tiny fragment has to be logged and accounted for... |

Aw, so this isn't about Keith Moon blowing up hotel toilets then? Okay, I'll put the drum kit back together, and get the car out of the swimming pool.

You'd think someone at the JSC would notice the lack of a safe - sudden appearance of big hole in the wall or, if it was a free standing one, someone wondering where the nice table for their coffee cup had gone... or is this just another example of poor BBC reporting (someone get them a book on grammar - stat!)
Anyway, wouldn't it be easier to sell Earth rocks with a forged "authenticity" certificate?
Jane (me grammer be perfect thank yous! ) |

| Good old Stephen Baxter wrote about this as well. In this case the theft resulted in the destruction of the Earth. Best to leave them where they are I say. |

Hahahahah, good old eBay.
I once sold some unique items (legitimately obtained) which had cost me less than £3 for £150. Went a long way towards a posh PC for my son. |

It's a shame that moon rocks are so valuable. This is the 21st Century! Anyone who wants moon rocks should be able to buy a ticket to the moon on PanAm! Kubrick promised! |
