I guess Ufology would be the place to post this, given the amount of suspected UFO material kept there.
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2011/05/110520-area-51-secret-hid-craft-base-declassified-a-12-plane/
"No word yet on alien starships, but now that many Cold War-era Area 51 documents have been declassified, veterans of the secret U.S. base are revealing some of the clever—and surprisingly low-tech—ways they hid futuristic prototypes from prying eyes.
(Also see "Exclusive Area 51 Pictures: Secret Plane Crash Revealed.")
The CIA created Area 51 in 1955 to test and develop top secret U.S. military projects in the remote Nevada desert. More than 50 years later, the base still doesn't officially exist and appears on no public U.S. government maps." |

I'm amazed that a satellite view is provided on Google Maps. It's quite clear. |

| Quote: | Area 51 Viewer's Guide now available FREE online
For the first time in history, my Area 51 Viewer's Guide from the 1990s is available FREE to anyone who cares to download it. This is my visitors guide to the secret military base in Nevada, home of UFOs, government conspiracies or anything else you care to imagine. (Okay, I don't take you inside the base itself, but I tried to catalog and collate all the information we did have at the time.) This guide was instrumental in bringing legitimate press attention to the base and making Area 51 a public phenomenon.
The whole 120-page document is right here in a PDF file:

No, no street view....but fortunately some kind members of the public have taken some photos and have tagged them onto the map of the area.
Look for Rachel, Nevada, then go south a few miles and there's the base, zoom in and try to select street view by dragging the little man onto the map, and all the photographed areas are indicated with blue tags. There are quite a few. |

Wow your not wrong, very interesting. Kinda. They hide stuff well there. From the looks of it, there appears to be no reason at all, for there being a base there. So empty and usnused looking. Just the odd regular fighter jet, airliner and helicopters. |

Yup. And the airliners will most likely be the unmarked red & white "janet" flights. |

Or you could look for "Groom Lake", and it takes you straight to the airstrip.
Or even "Area 51"

Well, the key to a secret airbase, regardless of its true purpose, is to be secret. A large piece of desert on a dry lake bed next to the Nevada Test Site is a pretty good place for it. |

I'm not sure how 'new' this is. 'Project 1794' was one of the labels for the Y2 initiative (circa 1952 to circa 1958) initiated by Canada's Avro and underwritten by the US Army and Air Force.
I don't recall seeing those particular illustrations, though.
They bear a strong resemblance to the Y2 conceptual figures contained in the USAF technical report declassified in 1995, obtained by CUFON in 1998, and posted on the CUFON website (www.cufon.org) ever since.
The eventual PDF version of the posted report is accessible at:
http://www.cufon.org/cufon/Silverbug.pdf
However, the declassified report hosted by CUFON has more, and more detailed illustrations of how the concept was supposed to work. |

Project 1794 anagrams into Project 1947.
What happened in 1947? Roswell!
I'm betting this is going to get taken up as proof of Roswell. |

Damn, that's clever. They really did have their best minds working on this one. |

| Quote: | Area 51 officially acknowledged, mapped in newly released documents
Area 51 has long been a topic of fascination for conspiracy theorists and paranormal enthusiasts, but newly released CIA documents officially acknowledge the site and suggest that the area served a far less remarkable purpose than many had supposed.
According to these reports, which include a map of the base's location in Nevada, Area 51 was merely a testing site for the government's U-2 and OXCART aerial surveillance programs. The U-2 program conducted surveillance around the world, including over the Soviet Union during the Cold War.
Area 51, about 125 miles northwest of Las Vegas, is synonymous in popular culture with government secrecy, and many have theorized that it holds the answer to one of the greatest questions plaguing mankind: Are we really alone in the universe?
But the newly released documents make no mention of alien autopsy rooms or spaceship parking lots.
This information will be disappointing to some, who have come to view the area has been a mecca of sorts for alien encounters.
For these true believers, the existence of alien spacecraft at Area 51, and the government's attempts to cover up their trace, is irrefutable and has been since reports of Unidentified Flying Objects -- or UFOs -- began to emerge from the Nevada desert in the middle part of the 20th century.
The map and other documents were released in response to a Freedom of Information Act request submitted by Jeffrey T. Richelson, a senior fellow at the National Security Archives, in 2005.
Richelson submitted the request as part of his continuing study of aerial surveillance programs and told CNN that he was not given an explanation of why the new documents were less redacted than previous versions declassified by the agency.
He points out, however, that the location of Area 51 was not a particularly well-kept secret. Its location appears in books on aerial surveillance and is widely referenced in popular culture.
In fact, the map that was released in the CIA documents mirrors the one that appears after a simple Google Maps search for "Area 51."
Area 51 has also been referenced in government documents in the past, though this newest release is the first that acknowledges its existence and location in a purposeful way.
Richelson told CNN he believes this could signal a dramatic change in the government's willingness to declassify information about the famed base, meaning even more information could come out about Area 51 in the future.
The release of these reports seem to put the theories about aliens and flying saucers to rest for the time being, although they may not be enough to silence the true believers.
At least they still have Roswell, right? |

So, what do we have ? The CIA « reveals » that two formerly classified aircrafts, whose existence has been widely known for decades, were tested in a secret test range. Obviously, a ground-breaking revelation !
What's next ? Project MK-Ultra was real ?
(And the pod people author of this article really seems to believe that we've been given the full and final knowledge of the history of Area 51) |
