28/12/2011 THE END OF THE WORLD My Dream β awakening at 03:17 hours
I was aware that the year was 2014. There was a solar event β out of the blue as far as was known, and you could look at the sun through dark shields and see the weather on the sun and the shadows of other planets seemed to be passing over the surface of the sun. I was watching from the front window of a maisonette looking towards the south. The sun seemed to have very intense storms on the surface and there was a lot of what looked like clouds passing over the surface. It got very dark on earth and you could look to space and see Mars and another planet which seemed quite close, but that may be because the sun blotted out those planets usually. Every one was watching the sun and it was very dark in the southern area of the sky. The sun moved over the earth from the north to the south and I could see what looked like auroras and electrical activity in the sky. It was green and red and very intense and fast β not like the auroras seen on television in the north and south poles. I went to the back of the maisonette to get a better view of the sun as it passed swiftly over the top of the flats and it had gotten darker on the side I had been standing. As the sun moved over the earth, it got a lot brighter and the heat of the sun seemed to push heat beams through the clouds, pushing the clouds down and making them lose the water they held. Suddenly the water got very intense and you could see the heat beams reaching the earth from the sun and steam from the clouds was in the air. Rain fell in abundance over these areas and soon the water was up to the roof levels in waves and eddies. The water was roiling and flowing very fast and was sweeping away people and objects. I was in the upstairs of the maisonette and the water was sloshing over the roof. I had a sister (which I don't have really!) and she had climbed out of the bedroom window on to the narrow balcony outside and was watching the sun, but when the rain and floods came so suddenly she tried to get back in the window but it was too late. I had to close the window because the water was going past in violent waves and coming in to the bedroom. She screamed and I felt so guilty but knew that if I opened the window the water would wash into the room and that I would not be able to close the window again because of the pressure of the water, and that I would drown. She was swept away by a fast moving wave into the stairway at the end of the block. I could hear lots of people screaming and I knew it was the end of the world. The only people who may have survived were on very high ground, but there would be nothing left beneath them to return to. I seemed to be aware that the earth had stopped rotating and had moved out of itsβ usual orbit around the sun. I had a passing thought that the magnetic protection for the earth had gone. |

Yeah, I've had my share of end of the world dreams, there was one really vivid one where aeroplanes were being thrown out of the sky and smashing up the city I was in.
With popular culture so obsessed with the end of the world it's not surprising we have dreams like this, something has to filter through. Your nightmare sounds like the film 2012, only in that you get to survive if you're rich (not religious or spiritual or whatever). |

| Thanks for your feedback - I haven't seen 2012 so that's an interesting one. I hope it's not a prediction - if it is then I guess I'll never be around to say - told you so! |

A major element could be the pictures of the Japanese Tsunami we all saw on TV. |

| I used to have a recurring nightmare as a child, airliners crashing into buildings, lots of fire (felt the heat on my face!) got taken to the doctors (this would have been 76/77) who said I had an over-active imagination, funnily enough about a year ago I had the dream again, this time it was the directors cut with alternate ending. As a child I was really worried about nuclear war, I could hear the news at ten saying blah blah blah nuclear clock ticks a few seconds closer, as I hid bricking it under my bedclothes! I had some nuclear attack/huge white flashmushroom clouds dreams a couple of years ago, saw hi-rise hotels in my city collapsing like cheap biscuits with folk falling out on fire etc |

I had some end of world dreams. Strange thing about them is that they always seem very real. One [possibly around 1992] about dark skies and black waters and huge waves destroying stuff and I always know I am going to die just like everyone else. However I don;t remember much else about that particular dream, only the darkness of sky and the water.
However I also had a very vivid dream about a second earth. This was [I can get the exact date later as I wrote this one down but I am ill and will not move of the sofa at this moment in time ] I'd say 1987 or so. It started with those starry eyed people who had really small pupils, pinprick pupils and they seemed turn a lot of people into themselves. I got away. Then there was a space port, where people were chosen to go or not to go to this new earth, which had appeared in space. It was the most beautiful sight I have ever seen, a brand new shiny earth, looking almost translucent, the bright blues and the yellow of the deserts and the greens, all was so clear. Just imagine like a really big bright moon but with Earth features.
The chosen people would get another chance. The old earth would be destroyed. |

I wish I had such interesting dreams!
In times of stress I have anxiety dreams where I'm back in the classroom teaching infants, and I'm suddenly realising that the children haven't done any maths fo six months, or I haven't heard them read , or I am late, or in some way totally unprepared for school!
I get fed up with the same old theme -I wasn't really a bad teacher! |

Vivid dreams do seem so real, and the feeling from them can stay with you for days. Great post, thanks.
On a slightly-related note, I read somewhere recently that if the 93 million miles between us and the Sun had atmosphere, sound would be able to travel and we would actually be able to hear the Sun. Evidently it would sound like a bell ringing. That would really get on your nerves eventually, wouldn't it! |

| Over the years, I have had a number of dreams in which there was an ominous feeling of impending doom. The dreams were unrelated other than the feeling that something was about to happen, they had the same "Flavour" for want of a better word. Even though it's a long time since the last one, I still feel what impression they left and sometimes small events will bring one of these dreams to mind. |

Those people started off with small numbers, their eyes were literally white with only a small black opening. They sort of 'turned' others by [darn the notebook is in the loft, just went upstairs to look for it...] looking you straight into the eyes. Like Zombies but less painful. Thing was that when you turned, you were not yourself any longer but you got immediately a ticket to the new world. I just remember that they spread like wildfire. More I can not say. They were very creepy these pin eye guys and I remember being very scared of them and not wanting to be one. I managed to avoid them.
Do you have any particular reason for asking Myth? Do you know something I don't |
