Yup, there're far too many old threads to keep track of. Now and then I have a little search around for something and find fascinating stuff from a few years ago. I can recommend that as a way of losing an afternoon. Cool

Yes, I recently started a 'Stone Tape' thread, then somebody told me such a thread already existed from 11 years ago!
No sweat, it's often a good idea to recycle (bump) old threads so that we can discuss them anew with updated thinking etc..Wink

This has happened to me a couple of times as well.

The first time was about 8 years ago while I was living in a very supernaturally 'active' property near Berkhamsted in Herts, which was around 100 years old. I was alone in my house, my housemate (ex boyfriend) was out in London and I was upstairs on the phone to a new boyfriend! Some time during the phone conversation, I heard my front door being unlocked and unlatched and my ex-boyfriend's voice call up to me saying 'Hello'. I cut the phone conversation short saying I had to go cos the ex was home, I went downstairs and to my surprise there was no one there. This confused me, so I called the ex on his mobile and he told me he was still in London, though it was definitely his voice that I had heard, and it was a very small cottage. (Thick flint walls, and no noise 'bleed' from next door)

The second time, I was staying over at my best friend's house in Maidenhead, Berks, and she and her boyfriend were leaving early in the morning to catch the train into London. My friend said it was fine for me to stay put in bed that morning and just let myself out when i was ready. I woke up around 7am and heard them leaving, and I went back to sleep. About half an hour later i woke again to the sound of the front door opening and my friend and her boyfriend coming in and discussing something in an argumentative tone, and I assumed they had missed the train and come home. Anyway, I drifted off to sleep again and later when I got up, they weren't around the house, so I assumed they had left again and caught another train.

I phoned my friend later in the day and asked why they had come back home, and she said they hadn't come home at all.

This doesn't spook me in any way, and I've come to accept and even expect paranormal events to happen in my life now, as I've lost count of the number of strange experiences that i've had. Maybe some people attract this sort of thing. But I do know that the Universe is a much stranger place than we can comprehend with our 'material' thinking.

I could probably post this to just about any thread on this board, but just to throw it into the mix:

http://www.cracked.com/article/199_5-horrific-ways-your-brain-can-turn-you-without-warning_p2/

That's page 2 of the article. The bit I'm referring to is near the end - #1 on the list. The whole article's a fun read, though, and would certainly be of interest to folks here! (Cracked.com is technically a "humor site," but when they're talking science they link to reasonably reputable sources.)

Apparently we hallucinate more than we realize - it's usually just something so mundane we don't question it! That's kinda creepy in itself, actually...

This happened earlier this year, and is the third time it has happened to me.

I was sitting at work, waiting for a colleague to come and start their shift. I was quite anxious for her to come as there weren't enough people to cover the breaks. Another one of my co-workers was in the room with me, chatting and generally tidying up. The room we were in has a large window, and I saw the person I was waiting for come down the path, but instead of coming in the door she walked up to the window, seemed shocked to see my other co-worker and then walked back towards the gate she had just come in at.

It was half an hour until she was due but as I was worried about her coming back I went to the door and called her, I saw her passing by the gate which is metal and has pieces cut out, she seemed to be on her phone, but she didn't seem to hear me and walked on. She is a very distinctive looking person, and often wore a hat, which she was wearing on this occasion, but it was a raspberry colour rather than bright pink as usual.

I had a feeling that she hadn't really arrived, so I wasn't surprised when she turned up about 20 minutes later, she was wearing totally different clothes and no hat. I asked her if she had come in earlier but she said not, and I didn't want to scare her by pressing the point. I had mentioned to the co-worker in the room with me that I would be able to give him a break as the other worker had appeared, although she hadn't come in. He told me that he hadn't seen her through the window.

Hadn't thought about this for years, but saw the thread and it all came back. Not quite 20 tears the Missus and I moved into our present home. Not scary at all, common brick and plaster type home. But we both experienced the false arrival of the other in our bedroom. I would be sleeping and hear the door open and close and then wait for her to climb into bed, sit up and she wouldn't be there. Her experiences were scarier, she would be sleeping and feel me sit on the edge of the bed, and even lie down, and when she checked, I wasn't there. There were several times I'd be watching the telly quietly in the living room and she'd come out of the bedroom all upset. It finally stopped after she loudly called upon Jesus to banish whatever was doing this.
I must say, it was quite unnerving.
