Hi All
This I believe to be a very important issue concerning smart meters and their affect on human blood. Please watch and spread your concerns to friends and family.

Puzzling that they have chosen to make them put out such a lot of RF.
You'd think that considerably less power than a mobile phone would be required, because the person reading the meters would be standing just outside the house.

I thought they were supposed to send their information to a central or a server or something, located elsewhere in the country.

At least where I am, the person stands outside the house to read them.

If they're transmitting data, why would anyone need to stand there to read them?

Because the radio transmission only has a short range. The idea is for a meter reader to stand outside and use a radio device that reads the meter.

The meter shouldn't really be broadcasting at full strength all the time - that would use too much power. When not being read, the meter should go into 'standby' mode. When the meter reader comes along, it 'wakes up'.

At least, I think that's how it should work. Perhaps smart meters in other parts of the world use the mobile phone network in order to do away with the need for a meter reader? That would explain higher RF levels perhaps.

Aha! It does use the mobile phone network.
I guess they decided to do away with the meter readers, then.
I remember years ago, when they proposed the idea, it would have simply used a limited range, low power radio.
