At least here in the USA, it was once common to have a small light bulb in the trunk / boot lid that illuminated the enclosure whenever the lid was open. In twilight conditions with such illumination, someone peering into a trunk / boot might appear to be mysteriously aglow. |
Thanks...it's a good point! I am sure that boots had lights in them back then...she may have been frightened by the man and her imagination made him seem odd. But the thing she was definite about was that the ends of his limbs were "rounded off"...that struck her as odd. He glowed all over as he ran away on his rounded off feet! His whole body...head and all appeared to be "made out of moon" as she put it. |

| Sounds a bit like "The Watcher" from the changeover from Tom Baker to Peter Davison on Doctor Who. |

| I wonder if the (memory of ...) rounded-off extremities resulted from the glowing man wearing mittens and / or bulky insulated boots. It was, after all, winter time. In twilight she may not have seen much more than a silhouette, insofar as she was standing off at a distance. |

| Can you badger the witness for another random detail or two? Something that might not seem important to her could be the missing puzzle piece for us. |

I'd go with the high vis jacket thing too. In about 1987, driving home late at night with my mum we saw something that looked like a set of glowing ribs hanging in the air on a country lane. As we turned the corner we discovered it was a jogger in a high vis top with reflective lines down the back
Also, he might have been very pale and so any light made him look odd to a young girl? I work with a man so pale he looks almost blue! Maybe something like that?? |

| When did high - viz clothing first become available? I remember our lolly pop lady at primary school in the 70's wore something yellow, but I can't be sure if it was the ultra reflective stuff we have available today. I know you could get reflective stickers for your bike, but clothes? |

| I remember in many old books of close encounters (before the Grays replaced everything) that UFO occupants were often described as looking humanoid, with arms and legs -- but no hands or feet. So how could they steal chickens from the boot of a car? |
