An invented story? Thought Savile was straight.

An anguished man has told how legendary Top of the Pops DJ Alan Freeman joined with evil pal Jimmy Savile to launch a brutal sex attack on him when he was a schoolboy.
The traumatised victim claims he was just 11 when German film actor Victor Beaumont lured him to his plush London flat where the BBC stars raped him.
Only now has the man found the courage to report his shocking allegations to officers from Scotland Yard’s Operation Yewtree .
Speaking out for the first time since being interviewed by detectives, he claimed Freeman and Savile “showed me no pity and arrogantly thought they could get away with anything”.
“Fluff” Freeman – famous in the 1960s for his catchphrases “Greetings, Pop Pickers” and “Not ’Arf” – is the latest on a growing list of stars named in the massive sex crimes investigation.
It raises further concerns about a paedophile network that flourished at the heart of the BBC.
The victim, happily married for 20 years, claims his horrific ordeal came in 1964 – the year Savile and Freeman were founder presenters of Top of the Pops.
The man accused Beaumont, who starred as a Nazi in hit war movies Where Eagles Dare and The Guns of Navarone, of targeting him in the changing rooms at Granville Road swimming baths in Kilburn, north west London.

He said: “A fight broke out while I was getting dry. I got a tap on my back and turned round to see this man, who was dressed, standing there.
“He ushered me away, saying that it was dangerous. I’d just got out of the pool and was soaking wet. He told me to pull my jeans on over my wet trunks and come with him. He led me out to his car. It was a Mercedes as I remember the badge on the front.
“The man was wearing very expensive clothes and gold-rimmed glasses. In those days you did what adults told you.”
The victim, who has had years of therapy, told how he was driven through a warren of streets as Beaumont offered him sweets and cigarettes. The actor said he wanted him to meet his wife and son “Klaus”.
The victim said: “I told him I needed to go to the bus stop to catch my bus home and he said OK. But then he said he would drive me to his home.
“He had a strange accent and said Klaus would like to go to the swimming baths but he didn’t have that many friends. He said, ‘Klaus is a bit older than you but I think you two will get on’.”
Berlin-born Beaumont – real name Peter Wolff – led the youngster into the exclusive apartment block in Maida Vale, north west London, where he lived. Freeman also had a flat there.
The victim, who has asked to remain anonymous to protect his family, said: “I’d never seen anywhere like this apartment. It was very expensive. There were two
single beds with gold trim, wall lights and a white telephone.
“Beaumont shut the French windows and drew the curtains. He told me to dry myself and said I could put my clothes in a small utility room on the side.
“I was starting to think it was strange. He had told me his wife and Klaus would be home but there was nobody else in.“
The man claimed Beaumont then locked him in the bedroom and summoned Freeman and Savile to join him.
He said: “The French windows were locked and he had taken the key. He came back and I told him I wanted to go. A phone outside the bedroom rang and he had a brief conversation in a muffled voice.
“He came back then went out a second time but left the door ajar. I heard a loud latching sound and realised someone who was already in the building was entering the apartment. While they were talking I heard the name ‘Fluff’ being used. A buzzer then rang and someone went to answer the main door and let another person in.”
The victim alleged that he was savagely attacked before he had chance to fully understand the danger he was in.
He claimed Beaumont ripped the towel from him and shoved him on to the bed.

The man said: “He went to force his hand on the back of my head and that’s when I saw two other men entering the room behind him. The first was wearing a dark suit and a tie. The other man behind him was wearing a tracksuit.”
The youngster says he was no match for the three men as they launched their brutal sexual assault. “Beaumont forced my head down into the bed and I remember the gold criss-cross pattern on the sheet,” said the victim. “I tried to struggle and then to curl up. Beaumont had his knee on my back pinning me down. He had exposed himself
“I could feel different people grabbing me. There were hands everywhere. I
was cut down my left arm and there was a lot of blood.”
The man said he passed out but heard his attackers arguing outside the bedroom door when he regained consciousness.
He said: “They must have been working out what to do with me. I heard the name Fluff again.” The man said he sneaked into the utility room to grab his clothes and climbed out of a window.
He added: “I fell into some bushes and started running.” He said he later recognised Freeman from his picture on the cover of the Radio Times. Freeman said in a 1994 interview that he had been bisexual but became celibate in 1981.
The Australian-born presenter died in 2006 aged 79. The victim only realised who his captor was when he saw Beaumont in the 1958 comedy film The Square Peg on TV.
The German died in 1977 aged 64. The man told of a strange encounter he had with Savile while driving past Stoke Mandeville Hospital where the late DJ was a fund-raiser.
He recalled: “I saw this figure jogging and my blood ran cold. He was wearing a bright blue tracksuit. I drove at him thinking I would kill him but couldn’t bring myself to do it.
“I jumped out and screamed ‘Maida Vale’ at him repeatedly. He ran back inside the hospital grounds.”
The victim, who became a successful businessman, reported his ordeal to Operation Yewtree to help other victims. He said: “People must have been aware what Freeman was up to but he and Savile and the likes of them were allowed to get away with it.”
The BBC has spent about £5million on three inquiries set up in the wake of the Savile scandal and faces scores of compensation claims from victims.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed they are aware of the new allegations.
Child protection expert Mark Williams-Thomas, whose TV programme exposed Savile, said: “This man’s account is compelling and very plausible.
“There was a network of paedophiles in the media and in those days the BBC dominated the media.”

Amazing that an 11 year old can remember such detail after all these years, did I read the word compensation in that article? |

Not really - I've just been recalling events from when I was eleven, as it happens. But none of what I remembered was as traumatic as the experiences of that lad.
The brain probably evolved to have sharper memories of dangerous and unpleasant stuff, as a way of avoiding such situations in the future. |

| Sorry but I'm calling bullshit on this one - there's no way an 11 year old at that time didn't recognise either DJ by sight or voice. |

I'm afraid it reads like a rape fantasy. Pictures of "Victor Beaumont" reveal that he made a specialism of stony-faced sadistic Nazis in uniform - the perfect hate figure.
The reiteration of Freeman's "Fluff" nickname, as if it was some kind of proof of authentic personal contact sounds very dubious. His gay proclivities have been widely reported in recent years. Graham Chapman, quoted on the Wikipedia page describes Freeman as "keen on motorbikes and leather and men," which might not rule out an interest in young boys but suggests he preferred the balls to have dropped.
Rumours of a flat used by Savile and Freeman with other celebs for sex parties have been around for months if not years. The story that has surfaced here seems to add detail but lacks the ring of truth.
While I have no doubt that Savile was a nasty piece of work, there is a disturbing lack of credible detail in the stories which have so far emerged. Given the publicity the case has been given and the alleged scale of his depravities, I would have expected much more unexpected detail in victim narratives. Maybe the most credible material is in the hands of the authorities but it is not mere prurience to be puzzled by the silence which has followed the initial storm. |

| You really have to be a little circumspect when an accusation appears in which all the active contributers are entirely free from any consequence other than a headline or a little compensation. |

Hard to discover. His dress-insanity was always garish but I seem to recall his earlier styles were built around voluminous coats.

| I seem to recall that during part of the 60s, Savile wore rather large sheepskin coats. |
