Wasn't there supposed to be a Rocky vs Raging Bull movie out soon? That is, Stallone and De Niro as ageing pugilists entering the ring one last time to square off against each other?

Yeah, but it looks like a dumb comedy Confused

This is your future, Adam Sandler! Starring in the remake of Grudge Match (as I see it's called) and pummelling Rob Schneider/David Spade/Kevin James (depending on who is still alive).

Hey, who could forget that deep, nasal crooning? Music to his brother's ears.

Just to say I have always refused to watch any Rocky film beyond IV in protest that making so many films in the franchise was taking the pee. I actually love them though! All the ones I've seen. The first one is actually a proper arty film, as has been said.

I love First Blood too. Refused to watch the other Rambo films though. Even I have standards.

You're not missing much with Rocky V (though the guy who played Tommy Gunn has had an "interesting" life) but Rocky Balboa was fine, if a bit drawn out when you know he'll be back in the ring by the end no matter how many excuses he makes.

First Blood is a pretty good action thriller, but the sequel was the one that was most emulated, which is a shame because they ruined the character what with him jumping out of a lake to bring down a helicopter and other such hilarity. The original book is well worth a read too.

Always meant to read First Blood, might just see if it's available on Kindle!

This is quite funny, you know the regulation training montage in Rocky II where Sly runs around Philadelphia while the music blares and he's followed by loads of cheering kids?

See here:
http://blogs.phillymag.com/the_philly_post/2013/09/18/rocky-training-run-rocky-ii/

And you'll discover that one training session took in over thirty miles of road. No wonder they made so many sequels, he's indestructible.
