I have been interested for decades in Fortean phenomena and the paranormal...grew up on a haunted farm in West Tennessee...that's another story...and renewed my interest about a year and a half ago when I was planning the shooting of a horror film in an 100 year old movie palace turned strip club in San Francisco. Turns out the theater was really haunted. I changed the movie around and shot what became part documentary, part scripted film called The G-string Horror. As I was about to premiere the film last December at a festival in SF, I was contacted by the Ghost Adventures show and they wound up doing an investigation of the theater. To say the least, the GA crew stirred things up a bit. I had experienced some anomalies with the camera while I was shooting (a missing section while shooting a tour with a psychic who encountered a spirit who did not want me there) and some even stranger anomalies during editing (moved scenes, voices on the track that I did not put there, etc.), but nothing prepared me for what happened to the "finished" film after it was released. The editing software (Final Cut Pro X) went nuts. The psychic who appeared in G-string Horror and had the encounter with the GA crew and a very angry spirit, warned me that that spirit in particular as well as the other "inhabitants" (4-5 in all) were enraged at being intruded upon so rudely and were going to take it out on my movie, since I brought Ghost Adventures into their “home”. Long story short, they turned the film upside down and inside out...or, more literally, running backwards and forwards at the same time. An alternate version of the film emerged which supposedly righted some of the wrongs the "stars" of the original movie were feeling.
I will get into more detail about this in another post. I'm particularly interested in getting in touch with anyone who has experienced video shooting and editing anomalies. I also experienced a similar shooting phenomena (missing video when I had overstayed my welcome in an ancient exercise room that had never been photographed before) at the northern Shaolin Temple in China for a film called Kung Fu Diplomacy. |
