ah, a little late to the party but i couldn't resist adding my own frosted glass story.
A few years ago i was visiting a friend whose house had a fair bit of history-it was a fairly large three storey affair but had been remodeled in probably the 70's, so was open plan. The living room was on the first floor, accessible by an open backed set of steps from the entrance hall. At the top of the steps was about a foot and 1/2 of landing with a narrow floor space on the right hand side and a wall on the left which formed the end of the living room and was frosted glass from about 1/2 way up. To get into the living room you had to turn 180 deg at the top of the stairs and go through a door. Directly in front of you was the kitchen with the living room to the left.
All this tedious detail is necessary for the story i promise. I was sitting in a chair in the living room facing the glass wall, just having a cup of tea and a natter when the phone rang. It was a mutual friend who said he would be round in a minute (and to get the kettle on), so we waited for his arrival.
I looked up to the glass wall, (not sure if i heard a noise or why) and saw a follically challenged man walk in a straight line towards the landing at the top of the stairs. I heard my dog move around as if to get out of someone's way and waited for what i presumed was our friend to open the door. And waited. After a few minutes when said friend hadnt come in it dawned on me that what i had just seen was impossible. The figure had been almost sepia/grey toned (as someone through heavily frosted glass) but somehow dusty looking as well, but had walked in a straight line from the corner of the kitchen (which i couldn't see normally because of walls), through a solid kitchen wall and along a floor that didn't exist as the stairwell was there. He then caused my dog to move (who was curled up at the top of the stairs) and vanished. Our friend turned up about 10 minutes later. |
