As I've probably mentioned a million times before I was in the restaurant trade from 1997-2005 and the company line was that it was OK to call a bloke 'sir', but never call a woman 'madam' as it implied they ran a brothel. |

He he. No I'm not a bloke, despite my avatar but to me, 'madam' evokes an image of an elderly female romance novelist flouncing around her apartments swathed from head to toe in feather boas...
... for some reason! |

I know I am now an Old Person! I was in a trendy fashion store this morning buying a gift card for my teenage nephew, when the sales assistant (looking all of 12) asked for I.D "in case the card gets lost". I said it wasn't going to get lost between me leaving the store and handing it over this afternoon, and could they turn down that awful music, as I could barely hear myself think. (The music was really loud!)
I am an Old Fart! |

| I know I'm old because my disdain of modern politicians is based not only their complete lack of competence and ideology but also that I'm older than a good few of them. |

When a walking stick is no longer merely a jaunty accessory, but a life-saving device necessary for preventing you from falling headlong into a drainage ditch and never being seen again.
(I've been thinking about getting one of those sticks with a built-in light for signalling potential rescuers, and an emergency medicine compartment, and maybe a flare gun or something.) |

| What you need is a walking stick with a rapier hidden inside. Not that you'd use it, but it's a talking point. |

Indeed! You display the steel point, and it speaks volumes! |
