Being something of a dandy I do carry a cane as an accessory and did look into purchasing a sword cane (at one time TK Max accidently sold them) but the law treats them so seriously that it really wasn't worth the potential hassle.

Now having read some of the books on Bartitsu, the martial art for gentlemen developed for the mean streets of Victorian London and seen the way that a standard cane can be used for defense I see that one doesn't need a blade within the cane at all.

I read a story years ago about a bloke who owned two swordsticks, one of which acutally held a pencil instead.

So when he was set upon by a gang of toughs, he drew what he thought was the sword and proclaimed that if they did not not immediately disperse he would be forced to - write all their names down... Laughing

Well the pen(cil) is mightier than the sword after all.
