Hi,
Can any kind soul point me in the direction of ghost hunting books? There are a heck of a lot on the market and I'm wary about spending any cash on them in case they all say they same thing. The last book I got on this subject was by the TAPS duo about 3 years back and it wasn't very good, IMHO.
If you can recommend any good books I'd be very appreciative. Thanks |

It's a huge field. You could try and narrow things down by indicating the aspects which most interest you. Use of technology, for instance. Or county by county guides to locations. Practical guides or accounts of investigations. Is breathless enthusiasm attractive or scientific detail more appealing to you?
For up-to-date stuff, the Web will offer thousands of sites run by enthusiasts, often with some related publications. The search for quality might be elusive though.
As for modern books, it is unlikely that the market for serious studies will be large enough to allow glossy production values. The bargain bookshops are stuffed with colourful offerings aimed at the Most Haunted demographic - I doubt if anyone has ever paid the cover price for these, though! |

Thanks James,
You raise a very good point. One of the reason why I wrote was because I didn't want to waste time and money on pieces of fluff, and your mention of "Most Haunted" struck a chord. For instance, the book "Ghost Hunters: A Guide to Investigating the Paranormal" is a curate's egg. Yvette doesn't seem to have a good reputation in the ghost research fraternity, but Ciaran does seem to have a respectable, scientific veritas, which makes me think is a book like this worth buying? |

| There's always your local library, so you won't waste money (maybe time). |

Why not look at joining ASSAP? When you join they have an excellent library of articles on various aspects of the subject.
A link for them is here:
