I agree. I've already mentioned there are trials going on here. In the worst case, mobile access to fora and information a jury may not be party to could prejudice the outcome. While I doubt anyone out there is watching...just type Jimmy Saville Fortean Times into google and see what you get.

Rolf Harris trial: Daughter's 'anger over allegations'

Rolf Harris's daughter smashed two of his paintings in anger when she first heard claims he had sexually abused one of her friends, a court has heard.
The 84-year-old TV entertainer said Bindi Harris had been "beside herself" after her friend made the allegations.
Southwark Crown Court heard Bindi confronted him in a phone call.

etc...

His paintings were selling for tens of thousands of pounds, although the Art Establishment was very sniffy about them. I posted an article on this over three years ago...

The last laugh belongs to top-selling artist Rolf Harris
http://www.forteantimes.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1146985#1146985

I ended with the comment
"And yet, ironically, the price of his pictures will probably go up after he dies!"

Perhaps I should edit that now - after Operation Yew Tree it seems unlikely his work will be worth very much, and those who paid huge sums for it might be questioning their judgement now.

What, he's 79 years old? Never thought of him as that old.

Gary Glitter, Paul Gadd, sex offences, Crown Prosecution Service, CPS, Metropolitan Police, Met, Operation Yewtree, underage girls, Gary Glitter is to be charged with eight child sex offences[PA]

The 79-year-old, whose real name is Paul Gadd, will be charged with offences relating to underage girls aged between 12 and 14.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said the alleged incidents took place between 1977 and 1980 and they relate to two females.

The reported sex attacks would have taken place around the height of Mr Gadd's fame.

Paul Gadd will be charged with alleged incidents relating to girls aged between 12 and 14 [PA]

It is in the public interest for Mr Gadd to be charged with eight offences under the Sexual Offences Act 1956

Baljit Ubhey from the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS)

Baljit Ubhey, Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London, said: "We have carefully considered the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police Service in relation to Paul Gadd, also known as Garry Glitter.

"He was arrested on October 28 2012 over allegations of sexual offences and the police have been providing material to the CPS since July 2013, with the most recent material submitted in March 2014.

"Having completed our review, we have concluded, in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors, that there is sufficient evidence and it is in the public interest for Mr Gadd to be charged with eight offences under the Sexual Offences Act 1956.

"These relate to two female complainants aged between 12 and 14 at the time of the alleged offending between 1977 and 1980."

Mr Gadd was the first person arrested as part of Operation Yewtree, the investigation in the aftermath of the Jimmy Savile sex abuse claims.

The singer was held at his home in central London in October 2012. He was later released on police bail, which was extended in March this year.

He will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on June 19 2014.

The singer, real name Paul Gadd, was the first person arrested under Operation Yewtree in 2012 [PA]

Mr Ubhey added: "We have also decided that no further action should be taken in relation to five allegations made by two further complainants as we determined there was insufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction."

Mr Gadd is accused of four counts of indecent assault involving the first complainant who was aged 12 or 13 at the time of the alleged attacks.

Those incidents are claimed to have taken place between January 31 and May 31 1977.

He is also also accused of one count of "administering a drug or other thing in order to facilitate sexual intercourse".

The ex-popstar is also accused of sexual intercourse with a girl under 13 between the same dates.

Mr Gadd is also charged with two counts of indecent assault between October 1 1979 and December 31 1980 involving the second complainant.

The second female was aged 13 or 14 at the time of the alleged child sex offences.

Correct age for Paul Gadd is 70 years, which seems more plausible.

There seems to be a recurrent theme here, doesn't there? Where people working in what could be considered the child abuse industry are also abusers.

I can't imagine what draws them to it? Crying or Very sad

Veteran entertainer Rolf Harris has been found guilty of 12 counts of indecently assaulting four girls in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.

One of the victims was a childhood friend of his daughter, while another was aged seven or eight.

The court heard Harris, 84, was a "Jekyll and Hyde" character, and he will be sentenced on Friday.

Police also said they were considering fresh allegations against Harris which did not form part of his recent trial.

Scotland Yard said if the claims meet the force's threshold for investigation they will be looked into further.

The judge, Mr Justice Sweeney, said a custodial term was "uppermost in the court's mind", but he wanted to see a medical report before sentencing.

Harris, who was granted bail, faced a mass of photographers and reporters as he left court in the company of his wife Alwen and daughter Bindi, who had both attended most of the trial at Southwark Crown Court.

Prosecutors said Harris used his "status and position" to abuse his victims, and he had a dark side to his personality.

The central allegation concerned a friend of Harris's daughter, whom the court heard he groomed and molested from the age of 13 until she was 19.

The other victims told the court they were touched or groped by Harris, sometimes at his public appearances.

The jury deliberated for 37 hours and 45 minutes before reaching their unanimous verdicts.

Harris was found guilty of all 12 charges he was prosecuted on

Police review fresh claims against Rolf Harris

Police are considering fresh allegations against Rolf Harris after he was convicted of indecently assaulting four girls.
The disgraced entertainer was found guilty on Monday of 12 counts of indecent assault in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.
Some of those he abused were as young as seven or eight.

Dozens more of 84-year-old Harris's alleged victims came forward during the trial, some from his native Australia.
Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott said he was "gutted and dismayed" by the conviction.
Mr Abbot told Australia's ABC radio sexual abuse was "an utterly abhorrent crime" and added: "It's just sad and tragic that this person, who was widely admired, seems to have been a perpetrator."

Tributes to Perth-born Harris in Western Australia could now be removed, the city's mayor Lisa Scaffidi said.

etc...

I always felt uneasy about Savile, a bit of a weirdo by any standards, but Rolf Harris seemed like one of the good guys, a talented entertainer, artist, etc... How wrong I was!

I'm sad about Rolf Harris too. But if he's guilty then he's guilty and has to be viewed that way for the sake of his victims.

Exactly so. I want to feel sorry for him, but I know that's not appropriate - I guess I feel as though I've been let down, as much as anything.

I also feel very grateful that I waited with my daughter when she met him at Crufts one year!
