| Arcadia is synonymous with paradise - a rural idyll. The historic Arcadia is located in the Peloponnese, a peninsula in Greece. |

Sauniere`s Model: The Real Secret of Rennes-le-Chateau or Another Red Herring?
Sunday, May 8, 2005
The success of the international best-seller, "Holy Blood, Holy Grail", spawned an entire cottage industry of copy-cat books and "initiates" claiming to know the true secret of Berenger Sauniere's hidden treasure in Rennes-le-Chateau. In an attempt to get to the bottom of these claims, French researcher Octonovo has been conducting a meticulous examination of Sauniere's original archives, which have been retained in a private collection. In this exclusive English translation of his recent report, Octo explores the suggestion by author Andre Douzet that Sauniere commissioned the production of a coded topographic model to pass on the secret of the enigmatic priest's "terrifying discovery". -
| Quote: | Since the annoucement of the discovery of the files of correspondence and financial accounts of Abbé Saunière, many people have asked if there was any mention of the famous letters which were supposed to have been exchanged between Abbé Saunière and the designer of the model

Hello All,
Rennes-le-Chateau has been nominated as one of the Fortean Wonders of the World. http://www.forteantimes.com/strangedays/misc/578/vote_for_the_seven_fortean_wonders_of_the_world.html
It seemed familar to me - so I spent some time today reviewing this site
www.renneslechateau.com/default-uk.htm
And of course, I now realize that I saw it during the whole "DaVinci Code" brouhaha from a year or so ago. My question for the wise ones - do you really believe there is mystery here - eg. buried Merovigian family histories, coded texts, buried treasure? Or have you concluded that this could be the work of an eccentric preist who wasn't that good at Latin? |

Perhaps you could have spent just a moment or two "reviewing" this site before starting a superfluous thread on a worn-out subject. [/i] |

The page says they are merely FT suggestions if you want to nominate R-le-C you'll have to go to the linked page, and if it's nominated only once that is no guarantee it will be in the voting round. You want it or anything else to be there you have till the end of September to get your nominations in.

To assist with this enquiry, I've done a bit of merging. As James suggested, the search function can be pretty useful in these circumstances. There's more out there still that I haven't merged, as it's subtly different.
I think it's safe to say we've covered most things of Fortean interest at one time or another, to a greater, lesser or pointlessly excessive extent. |
