Barney Bubbles was a radical graphic artist renowned for his work within the counter-cultural underground scene during the Seventies and early Eighties: he produced artwork for bands from Hawkwind and Ian Dury to Depeche Mode and The Psychedelic Furs; he art directed Oz and Frendz, and created psychedelic light shows for Pink Floyd. Paul Gorman will be signing copies of his new biography of Barney Bubbles, Reasons To Be Cheerful, in Bristol's howies shop on Thursday 5 February. He has curated a special mini-exhibition for the shop featuring rare items and original artwork, and will be discussing the designer's life and work and DJing a set of Barney Bubbles sounds.
Reasons To Be Cheerful, from 6.30pm, Thursday 5 February, howies, 62 Queens Road, Bristol BS8 1RE. Admission is by ticket only; tickets are available free from the shop.
