of the circus curios and fairground ephemera accumulated over a
lifetime by pop artist Sir Peter Blake, including taxidermy dioramas by
Victorian genius Walter Potter. The Museum of Everything has extended its run of this very popular exhibition until mid February.

The artist who gave form to Ridley Scott's Aliens displays a nightmarish collection of work at Landenberg Sarnen, Switzerland. The monsters that started life in his nighmares, will now inhabit yours.

18 Jan The Fly (1958) on the Big Screen
Relive the terror of this original sci-fi classic in
glorious, gigantic technicolour. This seminal film challenges our almost
universal belief in science and progress, and is as valid today as it was then.

18 Jan-23 Jul Extinct
The Grant Museum of Zoology will be displaying specimens of
animals that have become extinct over the course of history. Ranging from the
pre-historic days of the woolly mammoth and megalodon shark to the recent
disappearance of the Tasmanian devil, the exhibition aims to address man’s roll
in the survival of rare species.

21 Jan-17 Feb Doug Foster -In the Naughty Chair
Terror descends on Lazarides Rathbone gallery this month as Doug Foster shows his recent sculture and stereoscopic video alongside some more of his most celebrated installations. Continuing his chilling inquiry into the human experience, the promise of interactive art is a little intimidating.

21 Jan-12 March The Witching Hour: Darkness and the Architectural Uncanny
An
exhibition of photography, painting and film exploring the power of
buildings to unsettle or intimidate. The artworks feature diverse
sites, from a cemetery and tunnels to the streets where Jack the Ripper
murdered his victims.

26 Jan Gnostic Legacies: The Wilder Shores of Gnosis
Dr Jonathan Hill explores the origins and beliefs of some
fringe Gnostic groups. Some of whom are known only through isolated texts and
scholarly guesswork. The lecture will also touch upon the place of Gnosticism
in ancient society, and why they were rejected so violently by Christian
groups.

27 Jan The Circus Of Horrors
There will be great wailing and beating of chests when the
Circus puts on their phantasmagoria: ‘The 4 Chapters From Hell’. Zombies,
vampires, pickled people and bendy people, knife throwers and sword swallowers
shall all be summoned from the darkness.

28 Jan National Kazoo Day Extravaganza
A righteous celebration for an instrument that is treated
with unjust derision every other day of the year. Wet your whistle with
performances from the How Long Jug Band and a premiere of new kazoo art by
photographer Daniel Stark. Free kazoos will be distributed too.
