Christmas might be a time of over-indulgence, TV repeats and enforced jollity, but forget gym memberships and detoxes – what you need to shake you out of your festive torpor is a trip to Fortean Nights at London's Curzon Soho. Part of the 5th London Short Film Festival, it's an evening of short films exploring the weird, creepy and unexplained, and FT will be there to present an award for the short which most embodies the Fortean ethos.
Films screening:
Blackout (William Prince)
A man wakes up on the deserted moors with no idea how he got there. The locals aren't that friendly either...
The Cost of Living (Max Hochrad)
A woman rents an apartment for next to nothing; but what's the catch?
The Gravity of Belief (Martin Gooch)
Ever wondered where the missing people go?
In Memorium (Eduardo Amaro)
Every day the same route, and the same flowers by the roadside.
Missed (Guy Ducker)
A guy is shocked when he discovers a workmate died on holiday, but then he runs across her in the works café.
The Pearce Sisters (Luis Cook)
Aardman Animations branch out in this very adult tale of two spinsters living out an existence in a weather-beaten shack by the sea. When the sea offers up a handsome half-drowned man, company for them is promised. A tale of love, loneliness, guts, gore, nudity, smoking and cups of tea...
Shadowline (Dan Seagrave)
A drifter finds an old coat with a notepad and photo in the pocket. He trails the city for clues as to who she is.
Unpossible (Robin King)
A paranoid scientist goes to any lengths to protect his new time machine, but things go catastrophically wrong.
