Carissa Glenn, 18, found hanging by a pink scarf from a shower rail in her flat in St Ives, Cornwall, last April, might have killed herself while sleepwalking after becoming haunted by a rumour that a woman had hanged herself in the flat before she moved in – a rumour that turned out to be false. Miss Glenn, a barmaid known to her friends as Tish, was a talented pianist, artist and rider, but had a history of sleepwalking episodes in which she acted out her dreams. "She was always spooked by the supernatural," said her sister Lara. "She believed there was a presence in the flat and would mention it two or three times a week. She was always talking about her dreams – they were vivid. She must have been asleep or half-conscious." Her mother Lusia said: "She would never have deliberately taken her own life." An inquest in Truro in November recorded an open verdict.
